The Fault In Our Stars won big with the award for Movie of the Year, while star Shailene Woodley picked up a few more honors as the night went on. Shailene Woodley Winning the Trailblazer Award
Woodley had a good night—in addition to the Trailblazer Award, the star took home honors for Best Female Performance, Best Kiss, and joined the cast of The Fault In Our Stars in accepting Movie of the Year. Her speech for the Trailblazer category proved to be especially inspiring, and included a shoutout to former winner, Emma Stone. “She came up here and she defined what a trailblazer was, which is an innovator, someone who forges a new path. And in her speech she said: We meet thousands of people who we may be inspired by but we’ll never be anyone other than ourselves,” she said. “In thinking about that and thinking about this whole concept of trailblazing, I realized that we can’t fully be ourselves without a community, we can’t be ourselves without people to reflect back to us who we really are.” As for that intricate hairline braid? Definitely deserves an honorable mention.
Vin Diesel’s Heartfelt Tribute to Paul Walker
Just before announcing Shailene Woodley as the winner for Best Female Performance, Vin Diesel gave a shoutout to friend and co-star Paul Walker with a quick rendition of “See You Again.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as he noted, “Last time I was on this stage, I was with my brother, Pablo.”
Channing Tatum Twerking with Jennifer Lopez
Because it wouldn’t quite be the MTV Movie Awards without Channing’s killer moves… Proving that it isn’t just Jennifer Lopez who can work it, Tatum put his signature Magic Mike skills front and center after presenting Lopez with the award for Best Scared as Sh-t Performance.
Rebel Wilson and the Barden Bellas’ Pitch Perfect Reunion
We can’t decide what was funnier: Rebel Wilson’s surprise appearance as Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Camp, and Brittany Snow presented the award for Best Male Performance, or her hilarious take on a Victoria’s Secret Pink runway ensemble—complete with fully-feathered wings, natch. Is it too early for us to start campaigning for Wilson to be the next VS Angel?

Robert Downey Jr. and The Avengers Taking the Stage
Avengers, assemble! Robert Downey Jr.‘s fellow superheroes supported the actor as he accepted the Generation Award, and inspired the rest of us to channel our inner Iron Man. “If a man is judged by the company he keeps, then I must be doing something right, because look who I’m rolling with,” he said as he acknowledged his costars. “And on behalf of my Avengers, I invite you to dream big, work hard, keep your nose clean, and be of service, because yes, you can define your generation.”

Though there was a little confusion over who was winning the award, the dynamic duo kept us laughing as they handed yet another well-deserved win to Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.
The Fault In Our Stars Winning Movie of the Year
The results were thisclose, but The Fault In Our Stars ultimately beat out Guardians of the Galaxy for the title of Movie of the Year. Introduced by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, author John Green dedicated the award to his friend Esther Earl, who inspired the novel. “She taught me that people who are living with disability are not defined by those disabilities, and that the lives of people who are living with illness or disability are just as interesting and complicated and beautiful and interesting as any other lives,” he said.
